Pre-conference workshops/tutorials could be an opportunity to bring together the CI community for a particular topic of interest.
EDS book would be interested to provide such spaces in collaboration with partner communities, the Turing Way (TTW) and Pangeo. I provide below some ideas:
Workshop 1: Introduction to Data Science and AI for senior researchers, group leaders, late PhD/Postdocs and mid-to late-career climate/environmental scientists. Some inspiration from "Managing Open & Reproducible Computational Projects (For Project Leaders)", organised by @malvikasharan, successfully delivered this for biomedical scientists in collaboration with TTW members.
Workshop 2: Pangeo 101. The tutorial aims to provide wide introduction to the Pangeo ecosystem. Participants will learn all the core libraries and possibilities offered by the Pangeo software ecosystem. Pangeo members in Europe have delivered training using Pangeo-EOSC, a deployment using the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).
Workshop X: we can also consult the CI community about other potential workshops and provide assistance if necessary.
What needs to be done?
Validate workshop proposals with the CI2024 organisers
Format (online, hybrid, in-person)
Resources (infrastructure, trainers)
Other logistics
