A few comments and bug fixes were performed on the schema according to warnings by a number of individuals and institutions. These include:

  • Inline element opinion has been moved from group AKHeaderInline to group AKInline, with no practical effect on its availability but suggesting it can be used not just in headers but anywhere a difference in opinion between actors is mentioned. Attribute by is now available in this element to specify the actor that is expressing the opinion itself.
  • Element keyword now allows refersTo attribute pointing to TLCTerm instances.
  • References in reference metadata container now do not allow attribute refersTo anymore, to stress that references are destinations of refersTo rather than sources.
  • Content model for element otherReferences in the analysis section of the metadata now contain implicitReference and alternativeReference elements rather than a generic source element, to stress that they can be used for expressing either a legal reference not explicitly mentioned in the text, or alternative syntaxes for the URI specified in the actual reference.
  • Elements authorialNote and note now share the same content model, as obvious.
  • Documentation for ref and FRBRthis now avoids mentioning the Akoma Ntoso Naming Convention
  • Typos in documentation about elements block, eventRef, element groups manifProperties and ANtitleInline, and attribute group quote have been fixed.

Modifications in release 01/04/2016 (WD17 AN 3.0) with errata

A few comments have been fixed according to suggestions from Veronique Parisse: typos and errors in the documentation for elements FRBRmasterExpression, FRBRformat, and application were fixed.

Differences between release 10/03/2016 (WD17 AN 3.0) and 17/09/2015 (WD16 AN 3.0)

This release contains a few bug fixes and minor modifications arisen from discussions in the TC made in February and March 2016:
· Elements num, heading, and subheading now can appear in any order. This was made so that it is now possible (as in some British and Japanese laws) to have headings before nums.
· Top Level Classes elements (those starting with TLC in their names) now allow refersTo attributes. Top Level Classes can therefore refer to each other.
· File xml:xsd, which used to be a minimal derivative of the original one at https://www.w3.org/2001/xml.xsd, is now an exact copy of it. Attribute xml:id is now allowed wherever xml:lang is allowed.
Comment for element rref has been updated to reflect the correct name of its attributes.

Modifications in release 17/09/2015 (WD16 AN 3.0) with errata

The text of the comment for element publication in the metadata block has been changed from “The element publication is the metadata container specifying a publication event for the FRBR expression of the document” to “The element publication is the metadata container specifying an official publication event for the FRBR expression of the document”.

Differences between release 17/09/2015 (WD16 AN 3.0) and 10/09/2015 (WD15 AN 3.0)

This release contains minor modifications arisen during the face to face meeting in Ravenna on September 11, 2015. In particular:

  • A new optional attribute, inlineQuote, has been added in quotedText and quotedStructure to allow for the specification of the character of a continuation quote in some jurisdictions where each individual line of a quoted part (e.g., the text of an insertion) starts with its own quote.
  • Element notes can now specify the human language (attribute xml:lang) or its whole content, without having to specify it in each individual note element
  • Element componentBody has now a full set of attributes (attribute group coreopt) similarly to the bodies of all the other document types.

Differences between release 10/09/2015 (WD15 AN 3.0) and 22/07/2015 (WD14 AN 3.0)

This release contains a few modifications that were suggested by Jim Mangiafico, Monica Palmirani, Veronique Parisse, Grant Vergottini, and other individuals during the Arlington (VA) summer school in July 2015.

  • A new hcontainer called level has been added.
  • An intermediate container (similar to heading and subheading), called crossheading, has been added inside the hierarchy of hcontainers,
  • The spelling of value “uncostitutionality” of attribute type of forceMods elements has been changed to a more correct “unconstitutionality”.
  • The content model of the portion element now allows more elements including coverPage, preface, preamble, recitals, citations, longTitle, and formula.
  • A new optional attribute has been added to elements eol and eop, called breakWith. This is meant to specify the exact character used as hyphen when breaking a word at the end of a line or page. Also, the spelling of attribute breakat of the same elements is now breakAt, which is consistent with the camelCase approach of Akoma Ntoso.
  • A new section of the analysis section of the metadata has been added, called otherReferences. Here one can specify a number of otherRef elements, that are meant to specify implicit references associated to fragments of the document (identified through a source element).

Differences between release 22/07/2015 (WD14 AN 3.0) and 07/01/2015 (CSD13 AN 3.0)

This release contains only two modifications to the vocabulary represented by the schema:

  • Element subFlow, which is the generic element for subFlow structures, should have a name attribute since it is a generic elements, but did not have it. It now has it.
  • Attribute actor of element step of the workflow has been renamed by to homogenize the name of attributes indicating the agent of an action.

At the same time, the schema has been significantly revised in structure to answer to many issues raised during the open review. None of the following modifications affect the language as described by the schema, but only the internal organization of the schema itself.

  • All attributes accepting a value of type xsd:anyURI are now associated to more precise types, all of which are restrictions of xsd:anyURI specifying, in the comment, the nature of the restriction itself, which in general is not easily expressible in XML Schema.
  • All attributes that were defined multiple times in similar ways throughout the schema have been collected and defined only once in an attribute group. This includes, for instance, attributes by, to and role, which were present in many different places throughout the schema and are now defined centrally.
  • All attributes defined individually in elements and complex types have now been placed in attribute groups and separated from the elements and types. This should improve control and verifiability of attribute names, which was a problem before.
All attributes named types (which have, for many reasons, many different associated value lists) have been collected and presented close together for easy comparison of their values.
