Zane is a night club owner who has been focusing on making the club profitable and Angel is studying to become a chef. Both are well on their way to accomplishing their career goals, but something is missing. Neither one really is ready to make any commitment. Their careers and their family are what matters most. They aren’t looking for love.
The boys find themselves running into each other all over town without ever really seeing each other but always noticing the other. Angel frequents the club Zane owns. He’s a regular and security knows him well. Zane and his business partners' favorite restaurant is where Angel works part time while he goes to school. The chef there is also Angel's adoptive father.
To make things worse Angel’s other father and Zane’s father are partners in a high profile legal office. Angel’s father has been hiding his family from the partners for the entirety of his career. To them he’s a single man focused on his work. They don’t know he has a man for his legal partner and love of his life or that they have an adopted son.
Zane has his own problems. His parents are trying to get him to settle down and marry a fellow lawyer in the firm so they can have grandkids. But Angel and Zane are drawn together even as everything else tries to separate them - sometimes even they get in the way of their happiness.

- Zane and Veronica were always friends. As they grew older their relationship changed from friendship to romance. They were each other's first and only until college when Zane met Tristan. Veronica encouraged Zane to explore with Tristan. Zane loved both of them, and when the three of them finally came together it was the beginning of the end. Veronica and Tristan fell in love and would have been great if they had both loved Zane back instead they wanted a couple and not a threesome breaking Zane's heart. Zane has sworn off relationships since but has enjoyed exploring both sexes.
- Zane finished getting a duel MBA and marketing degree from Columbia, his father's alma mater, even though one of his songs was sold to a rising pop artist and went multi-platinum.
- Zane opened up Zion with the money he was earning from the hit song with Finn and Drew. Finn handles security, Drew handles the personnel and manages the day to day of the club, Zane handles the money and business aspects from accounting to contracts and leases.

- Angel Vega-Lucciano is the adopted son of Daniel Vega, a senior partner at Hudson, Kennedy & Vega and master chef Marco Lucciano of Fiore, a five star restaurant in Little Italy.
- Angel works part time in his father's restaurant everywhere from being a waiter to sous-chef, sometimes even covering for Marco running the kitchen while he goes through culinary school at ICE (an 8 month course in culinary arts and a 7 months course in Restuarant and Culinary management)
- Angel is twenty-two and a Cancer (Jun 21).
- Nothing is really known about Angel's birth, who his parents were, he was found abandoned by the dumpsters behind the restaurant Marco worked at weeks old.
- Marco and Daniel tried to adopt him for years but were thwart with frustration because they were gay men. When Angel was six they were finally able to adopt him.
- In the six years between Marco finding him and their adopting him, Angel was taken away and given to a couple as a group home while Marco and Daniel were investigated. The husband looked good on paper, but when left alone with the five children he beat one 3 year old to death and abused all the others including Angel. This was the final push for Daniel and Marco to adopt Angel come hell or high water.
- Angel was diagnosed with PTSD from the trauma he suffered and later with OCPD. He sticks to a rigid schedule and pattern of life. There are some underlying abandonment issues but he feels loved by his parents.
- Angel's first kiss ended with him getting beaten by the boy who he'd kissed. His first sexual experience was a few months later with a girl who took pity on him and tried to 'change' him. Thus making Angel not really want to let either gender close to him.
- Before Angel started at ICE he got his AA degree in Liberal Arts - college wasn't for him. Before that he backpacked across Europe cooking in whatever place would take him to earn a few bucks for about a year and a half.

- Devlin Kane is lead singer of the band House of Crowley. He is the 'rockstar' Zane sells the first double platnium song to. He has a two others he's sold to him since then, and Zane is writing one he'll sell to Devlin in story.

Devlin Kane, 31, lead singer of House of Crowley, rock star extroidanaire, 6 foot tall, his deep brown shoulder length hair fell in layers around his fallen angel face, dark chocolate eyes, chiselled lips
He's the singer but can play guitar and piano also. Before the band was a success he was playing piano and singing in a cheesy old bar. He met Nix there who was working as a bartender, Gryph and Penn were in the military at the time but were just about to finish their tours and when they did the band was formed.
(Drums) At 29 Phoneix ‘Nix’ Blaze was the youngest member of the band. 6 foot even, waist length blonde hair, baby blue eyes, he could have graced the covers of fashion magazines.
(Lead Guitar) Gryphon Ryder was a 6 foot 4 inch bear of a man with shaggy gold shot through with red hair and emerald green eyes. He was currently enjoying his last few months as a 30 year old. (Bass Guitar, also plays piano) Penndragon 'Penn' Blaze at age 30 was nearly as good looking as his younger brother but opposite in colouring. Hair black as midnight and worn almost military short and misty grey eyes that seemed they could see your soul. He was almost as tall as Gryph at 6 foot 2 inches.
