As mentioned in #192, this adds chosen-js to the dashboards. I haven't added any options to the .chosen()-call, as I'm not sure if there are any settings relevant to Kaffy, but feel free to add any. Also, I've chosen this bootstrap theme as it integrates better with the overall look of Kaffy, compared to the standard theme.

Interestingly enough, I had to update the match I added in the previous PR. It's been a while since I've created that PR so I call tell for sure whether I didn't test this properly or ecto returns a different values for types now. @kelcecil, I tested this PR with a new Phoenix 1.6 Project. with Ecto 3.6. Did you happen to test this with Ecto 3.5? I wasn't able to downgrade ecto for now, because I can't get the dependency versions right for Ecto 3.5 on a Phoenix 1.6. I just want to make sure whether they changed this or if I made a mistake there.

If they changed the version, I'd add both pattern matches to support both versions.

Hi 👋

I helped test your previous PR (#192). In the project that it was tested against, I used it against ecto 3.6.1 with no issues.

I tested this PR out and I was unable to get it to work with the new pattern match. It worked correctly when I reverted it to the previous match.

Is there any chance you can post your mix.lock file for your test project so I can verify the version issue? Doing some quick research I think the issue actually is with ecto 3.7 (see Ecto 3.7) but wanted to check what version you tested with first.

👋 Hi, thanks for helping out with the previous commit as well.

It is as you say, I was actually using ecto version 3.7.1 while testing. I was mistakenly checking the mix.exs file instead of the mix.lock file when I wrote this comment.

I suppose using both versions of the pattern match would be ideal in that case.

Regardless, where are the used dependencies and locked versions. Note: some dependencies where injected as compared to a default phoenix project, because I executed the phx.gen.auth task for having a test schema

Okay, Ecto 3.7 being the issue makes sense then.

One option to fix this is to use both matches as you suggested. It might also be possible to just do a match like {:array, {:parameterized, Ecto.Enum, _}} and then use Ecto.Enum.values/2 since that function is available for both versions.

Good idea to use the Ecto.Enum functions instead. The resulting code would definitely be simpler that way.
Before doing s,o we would need to update the Ecto version to at least 3.5. If that is alright I'd go with that approach

I think that upgrading ecto to 3.5 seems reasonable since it's in support of enums in Kaffy anyways. 👍

It took me a while to get to it, but I've set the ecto version in mix.exs to 3.5. It automatically fetched the most recent version 3.7.1, which I only realized after pushing. Should I downgrade/lock it to 3.5?

I think it would be best to only bump the version as high as needed for this feature, so 3.5 would be preferred. In that case mix.exs should have it set to {:ecto, "~> 3.5.0"}

@Awlexus something else that I wanted to bring up that I recently noticed is something from your previous PR (#192 ) is that the pretty_list function can actually break some behavior. It forces the list into a string, but previously you could pass in a list of values (using the :values keyword in the option map) as is to Kaffy to be rendered as the user wanted. I've used this to generate a list of html badges that are shown on the index page but that no longer works do to pretty_list trying to convert my badges to a list of strings.

Here's an example, though this is one badge in theory there could be multiple:
role_badge

I've had to throw a quick hack together (adding the two not is_binary clasues) to get this working for me, although I don't think it's the best solution:

  defp pretty_list([]), do: ""
defp pretty_list([item] = list) when not is_binary(item), do: list
  defp pretty_list([item]), do: to_string(item)
defp pretty_list([a | _rest] = list) when not is_binary(a), do: list
  defp pretty_list([a, b]), do: "#{a} and #{b}"
  defp pretty_list([a, b, c]), do: "#{a}, #{b} and #{c}"
  defp pretty_list([a, b, c, d]), do: "#{a}, #{b}, #{c} and #{d}"
  defp pretty_list([a, b, c | rest]), do: "#{a}, #{b}, #{c} and #{length(rest)} others..."

It would be nice if we could add a fix in this PR to fix this behavior as well.

Hey @Awlexus! Sorry for the delay! I’m ready to review this. Would you mind rebasing your branch on master? I’ve spent some time reviewing and merging other PRs (including Phoenix 1.6 dependency upgrades), so I’d like to test in that context. Thanks!

Sorry for being absent for a while. I downgraded the required ecto version and applied the fix to pretty_list/1 but it seems that fix breaks for atom lists. I'll try to find a solution that doesn't restrict passing :values

Rebased onto master and restricted the pretty_list to be only called when each key is an atom. Though I'm not sure if that's the behaviour we're looking for either.

Hi,

Would you be so kind as to do this again to the master branch?

Thanks,
Gavin.

Sure, I could redo this. Since then however I have started preferring Tom-select over chosen-js. Would that be a problem for you?

Hey there, I was wondering if the only outstanding issue on this is that it needs to be added to the master branch. I think this would a really nice to have, and depending on availability I can have a shot at it
