Combat: Ranged Attacks

Ranged attacks (such as those provided for in core by the skills Archery, Marksmanship, and the Throw command) operate a bit differently to their melee counterparts - they attack irregardless of the flying
condition (normally, a flying enemy can only be melee attacked by another flying target, and cannot attack non-flying targets) and are triggered by the shoot
(or throw
) command. A ranged attack always consumes ammunition, or, in the case of throw, causes the player to effectively drop
the item in question, unequipping it if necessary.
Ranged attacks are not mitigated by dodge chance, but instead by luck directly. Otherwise, they operate as melee attacks for the purposes of caluclating hits.
