The dataset contains information about the sales of a fictitious retail company called "Superstore" over a period of four years, from 2014 to 2017. It includes a variety of variables such as customer demographics, product categories, sales dates, and shipping information. this project was carried out to analyze and gain insights into their sales performance, customer behavior, and trends over time. I used Excel for the Data Analysis and Visualization.
The steps taken for this project can be summarized using the flowchart below, the data was pre cleaned so i went straight into the next step which is data exploration
The analysis was done using pivot tables
I used Excel Pivot charts to visualize the results from the analysis, some of the result visualized are shown below
• There is a year over year increase in revenue and profit generated from the superstore, with the highest profit [$93.4K] generated in the year 2017.
• The highest selling product category is technology, of which phones generated the highest revenue [$330K] in the subcategory.
• There should be focus on expanding the technology category, increased marketing efforts to drive sales in other categories.
• Different pricing strategies such a personalized discount should be put into considerations for revenue optimization.
