Canard Question Module Editor

Canard is a what-you-see-is-what-you-mean questionnaire application that allows researchers and questionnaire designers to describe the specification of data collection instrument, while showing a real-time live example of what a generated questionnaire may look like when presented to a respondent.

Canard is able to provide quick-prototyping for questionnaires and surveys by implementing the principles of Structured Questionnaire Design. Internally, Canard uses the Simple Questionnaire Building Language as its internal data model, while also conforming to the XML standards of the Data Documentation Initiative. By using the simplified SQBL format, Canard remains agile requiring network connectivity only when connecting modules together, while allowing an entire question module to be captured within a single document.

A series of tutorial videos are available on youtube showing how to use the software.
