A GNU/Linux distribution based on Arch with the goal of striving towards an out of box experience the Linux desktop has never seen before.

About The Project

Screen Shot

Built With

Like many other Linux distros, JovarkOS is based on Arch Linux, which is

"a lightweight and flexible Linux® distribution that tries to Keep It Simple." 1

We do have to admit, JovarkOS doesn't strictly fall in the footsteps of Arch Linux, as the goal isn't to provide a base for a GNU/Linux system, but rather a complete bundle of software which needs only minimal personalization and configuration to start.

Getting Started

Head over to our website: jovarkos.org.

Download page: JovarkOS Download Page

Please consider using the "Choose Plan" button to download the ISO image. Donations of any size are welcome, and the funds will go towards keeping infrastructure running. Donations are processed via PayPal. After donating, your download will start automatically.

Prerequisites

The easiest way to get started is to flash a USB drive (3+ GB total space needed) with ventoy, or by using any of the following tools:

  • Etcher (Windows, Linux, MacOS)
  • Rufus (Windows)
  • dd (Linux, MacOS)

JovarkOS boots in either BIOS2 or UEFI3 mode. You may need to disable SecureBoot4.

Installation

JovarkOS currently uses the Calamares installer. Please note Calamares may or may not work at any given time because of the time needed to build and test the various Calamares packages.

In that case, please follow the instructions located on the Arch Linux Installation Guide. Configuration files can be found in the JovarkOS Development Environment repository.

Roadmap

See the open issues for a list of proposed features (and known issues).
