This app is a unique and innovative tool that helps users recall memories in a more vivid and emotional way.
The sense of smell easily evokes memories more than other senses. Just as a certain scent can remind us of a place we had forgotten, I chose "perfume" as the way to express emotions. Although we can't provide a direct olfactory experience, I wanted to give users the ability to feel the fragrance as much as possible.
The perfume is composed of three notes, each performing a different role. In this app, I utilize these characteristics of perfume to record emotions. Firstly, the ‘Top note’ is the initial scent that is felt when the perfume is first sprayed. It is made up of highly volatile components that quickly evaporate and disappear. Therefore, I consider it as the first emotion of the memory and represent it with light and volatile particles that move quickly and disappear within a short period.
The ‘Middle note’ is the second note, and it appears when the top note's scent disappears. It determines the main scent of the perfume. Therefore, I consider it as the primary emotion of the memory and input it as the main emotion. It is the most abundant note, and it moves slower than the top note to express its significance.
Finally, the ‘Base note’ is the last note and is located at the deep part of the perfume. It represents the long-lasting scent and the memory's current meaning, so I input it as the end emotion. The slow movement and long-lasting scent are the key elements that express this emotion.
Some memories make us live. If they are good memories, they have even more power over us. Therefore, through this app, I aim to help users recall their positive emotions, gain strength, and find comfort in their past experiences while living in the present.
