This will be the last beta version. Next release is going to be stable.

News:

  • Plymouth is added back. All compatability problems have been solved. Fallback kernel is now named as safegraphics, which won't use KMS settings to early load GPU modules if anything is wrong. Original kernel image (kernel type doesn't matter) and safe graphics image has different grub kernel options now.
  • Picom has been merged up to date with yshui. Rounded corners have been fixed, animations are a lot smoother now.
  • pdwm will come by default, instead of phyOS-dwm. Check github repo for more info, it is a new type of window manager that nearly everything is fully dynamic. pdwmc is the control center, which can be either run from terminal or QT application.
  • ! Full disk encryption with luks2 & LVM support. This is the only arch-based distro that supports these options now, because calamares have issues with this. Encryption is an option.
  • Traditional partitioning is unavailable, only LVM2 installation is supported.
  • Auto mounting crypted device hooks have been written (not in boot time), even base arch linux doesn't have this feature. There is no need for a cryptdevice=..... parameter in grub.
  • There is now 8 different kernel configuration options, with a total of 16 files. It will automatically check your system, and update your kernel images/configurations accordingly. It will automatically add hooks/modules dependent on your preference.
  • Swap space for lvm2 is supported too.
  • System settings application is now much more enhanced. You can sync your colorscheme with all of your system (including pdwm) rofi etc, more than 15 colorschemes are available.
  • System tray support has been added. pdwm feels like a DE now. This is toggleable from pdwmc, like other options.

  • Sddm not working correctly with autologin. Now it runs startx from getty instead of autologin into sddm. Please don't forget to update your dotfiles after installation. phyup dots --force
  • Plymouth is removed for now. It has issues on other kernels and hard to manage in arch.
  • Now settings button open systemwide configuration and preference options.
  • Plymouth is going to be added as on option in tui application, also as for safety it will install an extra kernel without any plymouth related hooks or grub changes, so if something goes wrong you can try this.
  • Lots of new animations added in picom. You can change them or close them from the tui application, also speeds are settable.
  • Calamares has some issues with locale options, which can be sometimes wrong, and st or other gui applications like rofi won't open. If this happens, try to run phyOS-fix-locale script
  • Statusbar is customizable through settings app. As well as choosing grub or sddm themes.
  • Power menu now have 5 types, 5 different styles and the default one. These can be changed, whatever you like.
  • Powermenu now syncs with color when chosen from settings app, now only for rofi, but later on these colors will sync to other programs too in a later package.
