This variant of fontconfig 2.12.93 (2.13-rc4) is patched with Michal Srb's performance enhancements with minor edits from rebasing. The attached zipball contains the performance patchset.

Errata

PreprocessFamily allows return before assigning bestValue (9784fbf). If you are using the zip archive, use this change to replace a patch of the same name.
(inherited from upstream srb) sudo synaptic gives a serif UI font (b6a3282, patch). Apply this patch over the tagged version.
