Updating Tutorials 2020

Eric Eggert edited this page Feb 8, 2022 · 6 revisions

From Eric hand-off March 2020: "The existing Tutorials might be converted into the new design under the master-2.0 branch, which should be migrated to master at some point."

People resources needed

with these skills:

  • Accessible coding expertise (and reasonable editing) to process the pull requests and issues. (Not to do coding, but to write instructions for accessible code and code snippets.)
  • Project management to get updates approved by AG and EO.
  • WAI site updating, including Git submodules, symlinks to integrate into main WAI website.

What needs to be done

  • Update content
    • Lots of Pull Requests and Issues to be addressed
    • Eric has done many for the menus tutorial (and others?) that he can submit in a pull request
  • Get updated content approved by AG and EO (including for changes in March 2020 pull request)
    • Get agreement on appropriate lightweight approval
  • Integrate tutorials in main WAI site
    • Update Git Submodule in the wai-website repository
    • Update tutorial navigation to navigation.yml
    • Maybe delete the /tutorials/ directory on the W3C server

Questions and Issues

  • What to do first?

    • Get approval for March 2020 updates and integrate into new site? Then address the other issues?
      or
    • Address all the high-priority, easy, and non-controversial pull requests and issues first, then get approval, then integrate?
  • What is the best way to review the changes, e.g., list, pull request, other?

PR

This pull request has all the low-hanging fruits and outdated issues fixed. It can be reviewed and merged. I have also provided all information and pull requests for the other repositories that are needed to make the tutorials show up on the page. (Eric) https://github.com/w3c/wai-tutorials/pull/636
