Using Todo.txt for Android efficiently
Todo.txt for Android is a companion application to the Todo.txt CLI script for handling a todo list in a plain text file. Todo.txt can also be used without the command line interface, by accessing the text file in a standard text editor (like Notepad or Wordpad on Windows), or by using it exclusively on the Android device.
By setting up Todo.txt CLI to store its todo.txt file in a Dropbox folder, you can access the file through Todo.txt for Android devices. The current version does not allow running Todo.txt without a Dropbox account, though there is a free Dropbox plan with more than enough space.
Access the settings screen by tapping the "Menu" hard button and choosing settings from the context menu while in the main screen (the todo list).

If you are primarily a Windows user, you will want to select the choice for "Windows line breaks". Windows marks line breaks differently than Unix, Linux and Macs - and you might get strange display issues of the file on a Windows computer if this is not set.

Todo.txt expects to find the todo.txt file in your Dropbox folder under "todo". You can change the setting under File location to set a different location, if wanted. Set the path, not the filename.
If you try to use Todo.txt without network available, it will enter offline mode. You can switch offline mode on and off manually from the settings (menu->settings and scroll down a bit). When in offline mode, working with tasks won't synchronize with Dropbox, saving a bit of time and bandwidth on data traffic. You can do a manual update by choosing to synchronize while in offline mode - and you are asked to do it when leaving offline mode.
Remember: Upload means keep changes on the Android device, and push changes to the remote version. Download means overwrite tasks on the Android device with the todo.txt from Dropbox.
