In this release of the UltraGzip, we provide a common infrastructure for I/O jobs which always fully resolves all used paths.

UltraGzip tries to achieve maximum GZIP compression by using several other programs as well as Java's own GZIP implementation. Its build process will compile JZlib as one of its internal tools into the full jar. While UltraGzip is GPL licensed, JZlib is under a BSD style license, as attached below.

UltraGzip is licensed under the GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE, Version 3, 29 June 2007.

JZlib is licensed as follows:

JZlib 0.0.* were released under the GNU LGPL license. Later, we have switched
over to a BSD-style license.

Better Configurability, Log-Output, and Library-Functionality

This release of the UltraGzip comes with slightly improved configurability.
You can now use the command line arguments

  • gzipIntensity to tune between normal (5), fast (0) and insane (10) compression, where 5 will already be a bit slow and provide a very strong compression, if all required tools are installed, and
  • nCores to set up the number of processor cores to be used.

The library now has a bit a better functionality in terms of how configuration parameters are handled and also provides better log output.
