If you want to install as a non-super-user in 8.3:

• Remove the pgtypeof()-specific stuff, as well as anything else that’s specific to 8.4+
• See compat/inststall-8.3.patch
• Or run ‘make’ for 8.3, remove the pgtypeof stuff, then distribute the resulting file.
