#octaveRounder Discussion and Feedback

I have a few more MIDI shields arriving soon. I have so far avoided dependencies on modifying the hardware (ie: adding buttons or switches, relying on the keyboard octave switch to move features out of the way). But I would definitely like to hear from anybody trying this out. A few things that might be necessary ultimately:

  • Physical Oct Up/Down switches in the pedal
  • Toggle Oct rounding on/off
  • Toggle Quartertone functionality
  • LCD to display state

Any additions should probably require a proper PCB that sandwiches between the shield and the Arduino, to avoid soldering the MIDI shields and Arduinos. Alternately, it may require abandoning MIDI Shields, and building proper minimal optically isolated MIDI circuits along into the rest of the PCB. Also:

  • 3D printed stompbox cases?
  • Can the MIDI DIN plugs be properly baked into the case in this manner?
  • USB? I have avoided it so far. But a lot of keyboards only have USB these days.
