Workshop: Multivariate analyses in R

Schedule

We meet on 12-14th April 2023
On 12th and 14th April we meet in-person On 15th April we meet via zoom We will meet between 10:00 and 15:00 CET in two sessions:

• 10:00 - 12:00 - morning session
• 13:10 - 15:00 - afternoon session.

Contents of the course

Day 1:

• General intro to multivariate analyses
• Principal Component Analysis (PCA), data requirements, interpretation
• Redundancy Analysis (RDA)
• Variation partitioning

Day 2:

• Types of data
• Distance-based vs transformation-based approaches
• Correspondence Analysis (CA) and Canonical Correspondence Analysis (CCA)
• Principal Coordinate Analysis (PCoA)
• Distance-based Redundancy Analysis (db-RDA)

Day 3:

• Non-metric Multidimensional Scaling (NMDS)
• Summary of approaches and data requirements
• Work on own data

R packages

We will mainly be using the functions from the R package vegan. The packages we will be using and required for the course are listed in install_packages.R. Please run that script prior to the course.
