Different editors to try out:

  • sirtrevor
  • editorjs
  • TRIX? (potentially good integration with rails 6... but requires webpacker? but just an HTML rich text editor)
  • ORY/react-page? (nice, slightly confusing UI, react based.. seems like it's in the middle of some maintainer flux and the docs are out of date.. pushed to React page #2195)
  • quilljs
  • Grape? (nice, but works directly with HTML)
  • DraftJS? (too simple?)
  • Gutenberg? (too tied to WP implementation)
  • tinymce?
  • prosemirror

Based on this spike and some analysis by @cbeer , it doesn't seem like there was something better out there than Sir Trevor 😢 . We are not going to try and target this for a v3.0 release.
