This is a Command Line Interface for Tomcat 7.0, which requires Java 6.
This library might also work for other versions of Tomcat running on 
Java 6.

Decompress the archive:

  tar -zxvf tomcat-cli-$VERSION.tar.gz
  cd tomcat-cli-$VERSION
  
The archive contains a single script and two jar files, one each of
the source code and the compiled classes.

  ./tomcat-cli.sh help
  ./tomcat-cli.sh help <command>

Connect to the local JMX connector on the specified process:
  ./tomcat-cli.sh status --pid:<PID>

Connect to the local JMX connector using the specified url:
  ./tomcat-cli.sh status --url:<jmxurl>

Connect to the localhost JMX connector on the specified port:
  ./tomcat-cli.sh status --port:<portnum>

Inject the Java 6 Management Agent into the specified process:
  ./tomcat-cli.sh status --inject:<PID>
  
Connect to a process by guessing which is Tomcat:
  ./tomcat-cli.sh status --guess

Extended information can be displayed by adding the following switches to the status command:

 --webapps --connectors --threads --verbose
