labarba edited this page Nov 30, 2014 · 8 revisions

These wiki pages help you navigate the open content for the course "Practical Numerical Methods with Python." This is an open, online course on an independent installation of the Open edX software platform for MOOCs, developed collaboratively by Professor Lorena A. Barba, at the George Washington University (Washington, DC, USA) and her colleagues:

  • Carlos Jerez, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile
  • Ian Hawke, Southampton University, United Kingdom

The MOOC (massive, open, online course) is ran by the George Washington University, while each instructor is running a local course, for credit at their institution. You can register for the MOOC at any time in the GW Online Open edX platform to experience the complete course (including quizzes, examples and discussion board).

All content is open —really open, i.e., you can use, share, mod, remix— and most is available outside the course platform also (on GitHub and YouTube).

Course at KAUST cancelled

We are disappointed to learn that the on-campus course AMCS252 at KAUST was cancelled, due to lack of enrollment. This means that Prof. David Ketcheson will not be participating in this multi-campus, connected learning initiative, after all. He did contribute to the planning of course modules, which we acknowledge here. Some course materials are still based on his work, which will be acknowledged accordingly.
