How do I open Sessions/Windows/Tabs ?

You can open them by left-clicking their name, and I am currently working on adding a context menu to have more options and more clarity.

Why are some windows and tabs highlighted with blue colour?

Highlighted tabs and windows indicate that these tabs or windows are/were focused.

Why does opening local files/links(e.g. URL starts with file:///) such as images stored in my hard disk not work?

All major browsers have disabled that behaviour for security reasons.

How do I manage/save Private Windows/Tabs?

You need to allow the extension to run in Private Mode.

Why can't I save sessions from Private Windows in Firefox?

IndexedDB does not work in Private Mode in Firefox, you can track that bug here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1639542.
