Welcome to the MATLAB and Simulink Challenge Project Hub wiki!

The MATLAB and Simulink Challenge Project Hub provides a list of challenging projects with industry relevance centered around technology trends. Motivation for educators and students might be:

  • Compelling projects based on industry needs
  • Gaining skills and experience on industry relevant problems
  • MathWorks endorsements and gadgets

While the primary aim of the program is to assist educators and students by offering a collection of projects that can be utilized as capstone projects for senior design classes or as master or PhD theses, individuals, including professionals in the industry, are welcome to engage in these projects if they desire.

How to participate

Choose a project that you wish to undertake and complete the form available in the project description page. To choose multiple projects, you must visit each project description page and fill out the respective sign-up form. Once submitted, a confirmation email will be sent to you, containing more details and a summary of the information you provided in the form. Although a deadline will be given (four months from the sign-up date), it is not mandatory, and you may request more time if needed. We utilize the deadline to determine if the project is still of interest to you after the four-month period, in the event we have not received prior communication from you. If you are working in a team, only one person should sign up as the point of contact for the project. The remaining team members' names will be provided by the point of contact in the submission form, ensuring that everyone receives the rewards.

Instructions for project solution submission

If you have already registered your intent to complete one of the projects, follow the steps below for completing your project and become eligible for the rewards:

  1. Create a GitHub repository and select the open source BSD 2-Clause or MIT license to share your solution publicly. You can create your own repository from this template, just follow these simple instructions

  2. Upload your MATLAB and/or Simulink solution into your repository. We suggest to complete these first steps as you start working on your project to ease collaboration with your team mates and for code version control.

  3. Let us know that your solution is ready for evaluation by completing the submission form located on the project description page you selected. Make sure you use the same email address when you first registered.

If you submit your solution following these steps, we will review it and if the project requirements are satisfied you will receive the rewards as outlined below and when you registered.

Discussion Board

We have established a discussion forum to assist you in your project, where you can ask questions, share ideas, or clarify any doubts. Our team of MathWorks engineers will make every effort to respond quickly. Additionally, the discussion board is a great place to search for potential collaborators. Each project has its own designated discussion forum, which can be accessed directly from the project description page. Please feel free to utilize the forum and do not hesitate to inquire about anything!
