udev Rules Notes

udev

udev rules can be used to differentiate devices in meaningful ways. They are also difficult to use.

Discovered so far

  • It works best if the devices are on independent ports.
  • The two USB 3 ports on the Odroid XU4 are actually on a USB hub together, the "second" host port us attached to the Realtek Ethernet chip.
  • user udev rules seem to work best if they are loaded last
  • actually making them work seems impossible

Current Camera Mappings

These mappings are dependent on which port each camera is plugged into and seem to be consistent between boots.

Camera Port Mapping Bus/Device (@boot) device
even bottom 4-1.1:1.0 bus/usb/004/003 video6
odd top 4-1.2:1.0 bus/usb/004/004 video7
