1081 is an educational stealth game set in Cebu during the dark years of Marcos Sr.’s 14-year regime. Players assume the role of a student activist navigating the challenges of avoiding military pursuit. Stealth gameplay emphasizes avoiding encounters with the military while, at some point, saving key persons. The player’'s actions are essential to restoring democracy in this immersive journey. Based on true events, the game educates players about the struggles faced by activists, combining stealth mechanics with historical narratives to supplement learning.
This project aims to educate end-users about the history of Marcos dictatorship while providing them with an interactive and memorable experience. Specifically, the group seeks to produce the following key objectives:
- Educate players about the role of Cebu in ending the Dictatorship and restoring democracy
- Inspire players to get involved in politics and make a difference in their own communities.
- Learn about the importance of fighting for justice and freedom
- Promote democracy and human rights
