Google Books Ngram Viewer Extension for Chrome

Google Books Ngram Viewer allows you to chart the frequency of a given word or phrase in over 5.2 million books, published between 1500 and 2008 and now digitized by Google.

Once you have installed this extension in Chrome, you will be able to select any word or phrase on a web page and, with one click, graph its frequency in the Google Books corpus.

Install it

• Clone this repository to your local machine: git clone https://github.com/kariannemah/ngram-viewer.git. This will copy the files to a new directory called ngram-viewer.

• Visit chrome://extensions in your browser.

• Confirm that the "Developer mode" checkbox in the top right-hand corner is checked.

• Click "Load unpacked extension…"

• In the popup menu, navigate to the local folder ngram-viewer and select it.

Use it

• Open a new tab.

• Highlight a phrase like "innovator's dilemma" and right click.

• Click on "Graph the frequency of this n-gram" in the right-click menu. This will open a new tab to display your desired Ngram Viewer graph.
