XR Playground

I'm reporting the progress of my exploration on XR Development using Unity 3D for Oculus (Meta) Quest (2). This is covering all steps regarding the (current) latest engine available for Apple Silicon 2021.2.8f1. Most of the Tutorials I could find are outdated to this version, so you can find all links and references for Tutorials and Documentation (covering the engine changes from the version used in Tutorials).

I'm using the assets provided by Synty in order to elaborate scenery and VR interactions, but I'm following Tutorials and Documentation from multiple sources.

Before you start

I would recommend to check the following steps before following my progress:

  1. Learn the basics about Unity 3D
  2. Acquire a link cable to connect your Oculus Quest to your computer
  3. Enable development mode in your Oculus Device

Completed tasks:

  1. Create Unity Project with all settings for VR and Oculus
  2. Update some settings to optimise performance
  3. Create a first dragging interactions (point-and-grab)
  4. Make XR Interactions re-usable by saving as pre-fabs
  5. Animate hands
  6. Enable Intellisence for Unity on VS Code
  7. Use WebXR Camera prefab and export scene to be used via browser
  8. Import a real terrain into a scene
