Usability Testing Feedback from August 2017

  • In general, I like the fun and light feeling of the onboarding. I just didn't quite know what I was going to use the app for after going through it. I think some work could be done on the wording to help with that.

  • This was my thought as I went through the onboarding—"You’re going to use the sensors in my phone to detect something. To detect intrusion. That’s great! I’m not quite sure what kind of intrusion. Also, how much battery power is this going to take? Is it running in the background all the time or triggered by certain events."

  • I have to approve 3 permissions before even getting into the app. This seemed a little annoying since I didn't quite know what I was going to be using the app for. Perhaps these can be moved to a later step.

  • It seemed a little odd to me to arrive at the settings page after I went through the onboarding.

  • I’m not sure how to choose a sound sensitivity. I want to speak into the phone to set it.

  • Movement Sensitivity ‘configure’ doesn’t do anything.

  • Bug: I tapped send SMS alert when detection occurs. When asked to 'allow PhoneyPot to send and view SMS messages' I said 'Deny'. Though, the box shows it as selected, even though SMS won't be sent because I denied the permission.

* The overall flow for sending sms alerts can be improved greatly. For example, after I choose to send SMS, if I approve the permission, it would be nice if I were prompted right then to enter the phone number that should receive the SMS.
  • I love the run/countdown view!

  • I'm not sure how to get back to my settings to make changes.

  • I suggest streamlining the graphics with app icon so the overall app feels more cohesive.
