Code to create the 2020 tract to vintage 2010 PUMA's Crosswalk using NYC Open Data Portal and Geopandas in Python. Once the 2020 PUMA are released by the Census Bureau in 2023, the NYC Department of City Planning might come with the crosswalk between 2020 Tract and 2020 PUMA. Until then, use this crosswalk whenever you've to look up which census tract falls in which PUMA in NYC.

2010 PUMA Boundaries: Census-defined boundaries that roughly approximate the city's Community Districts. Each PUMA covers at least 100,000 residents.

2020 Census Tracts: The census tracts are small, permanent geographical unit of a county or its geographical equivalent. According to the Census Bureau, the number of people that reside in a census tract is between 1,200 and 8,000. As a result of Decennial Census 2020, there are 2,325 census tracts in NYC, a jump from 2,168 tracts in Decennial Census 2010.
