Correlator 4.5.2

Correlator 4.5.2 is now available for testing.

The software has finally been ported to Python 3.9 (from 2.7) and wxWidgets 4.2 (from 2.9), a long overdue task.

Functionally, Correlator should be equivalent to the last official release, version 4.0.1.

Correlator 4.0.1

Correlator 4.0.1 is now available.

This release fixes a Data Manager bug that causes site-level updates to fail if no images have been imported.

Correlator 4.0

Correlator 4.0 is now available, and out of beta.

Changes:

• When saving, allow updating an existing affine file if there is no splice. Previously the only option was to create a new affine file.
• Double-click instead of command-clicking to "select" a core, highlighting its background. Command-click created conflicts with menu shortcuts on Mac.
• New splash screen!

Note: A Windows build of Correlator 4.0 is coming in April.

Correlator 4.0 beta 5

Correlator 4.0 beta 5 is now available.

Note: If Correlator behaves sluggishly, try the following workaround:

1. Quit the application.
2. Locate the app bundle, right-click and choose "Get Info".
3. Check the "Open in Low Resolution" box.
4. Relaunch Correlator. This results in a major performance boost on most modern Macs.

Changes include:

• New TIE option: Shift this core and all below
  Shifts all tie chains below the shift core and its tie chain descendants (if any). A more powerful version of "shift this core and related below", which does not shift tie chains below. Note that all cores in tie chains will be shifted, even those above the original shift core. The only core guaranteed not to shift is the fixed core from which the TIE originates. Be careful, this may lead to unexpected results!

• The obtrusive floating "Toolbar" has been removed. Its Save, Discrete Points, and Exit Correlator button functionality remains available in menus. The "Go to Display/Data Manager" button has moved to the lower-left of the main window.

• The Splice Cores panel now includes a list of Gaps in the splice, if any. Double clicking a row in this table will jump to the gap if it is not already visible.

• A suppressible warning will appear when saving a splice with gaps.

• In the Splice Cores panel Intervals tab, double-click the core name column to jump to that core if it is not already visible.

• Holding the Command key (⌘) and clicking while over a core will 'select' that core, drawing its background in blue to make it more visually distinctive. This is purely a visual cue; 'selecting' a core has no other function.

• Option to draw TIEs as lines across the entire core area instead of arrows

• Option to toggle display of shift type color strips

Correlator 4.0 beta 4

Correlator 4.0 beta 4 is now available for Mac.

Changes include:

• The SET dialog distance is now a delta from the current depth. (Previously it was the distance from the CSF-A depth.)
• Affine and splice tables are saved with the .csv extension and a cleaner format with no additional dots
• A default affine/splice name is provided on export
• Text displays correctly in the Show/arrange data types... and Show holes... dialogs (previously it was truncated on some systems)
• Default colors and the Set Colors dialog have been overhauled; layout was refined, obsolete items removed
• Many warning/informational dialogs can now be suppressed by checking "Don't show this again"
• Correlator will remain at the last-viewed depth when Loading a splice table
• Only import images with corresponding sections in the site's Section Summary
• Warn on import of oversized images (wider than 230px and/or greater than 1MB in file size)

Correlator 4.0 beta 3

Correlator 4.0 beta 3 is now available for Mac.

This release introduces full undo support for splice operations in addition to affine. The affine "Undo" button has been removed. Undo is now found in the Edit menu, with the usual keyboard shortcut of Control-Z on Windows and Command-Z on Mac.

Correlator 4.0 beta 2

Correlator 4.0 beta 2 is now available for Mac. Changes include several bug fixes and the ability to auto-shift splice intervals associated with cores undergoing an affine shift. In the past, such intervals were removed from the splice

Note that undo functionality has been expanded to include splices shifted by an affine change. However, all other changes to the splice (adjusting top/bottom depth, etc.) cannot be undone at present.

Correlator 4.0 beta 1

Correlator 4.0 beta 1 is now available for Mac. Note that this is the continuation of the 3.2 beta builds...we elected to bump the major version from 3 to 4.
