Code for San Jose is building a courtbot application. This courtbot application will assist people who need to attend court. People who need to appear in court are sometimes dealing with other crises. For example, being evicted can cause follow-on crises that make it a challenge to get to court. But missing a court date can do long-term damage to one's life. People who do not take advantage of a court appearance to explain their circumstances will see the unchallenged statements of others become part of a permanent public record of events. It is better to attend court.

This application should provide timely reminders that will help people get to court at the correct time.
