I've added the necessary stuff to have boot2docker auto-mount software RAID arrays and use them for persistence. There's even a RAID-HOWTO that explains how to test and/or experiment with this using local device disk images and the QEMU emulator. Furthermore, this patch doesn't (as far as I'm concerned) interfere with any of the existing code, so the merge should be simple, even simple to review.
It would be nice to see this feature in the main stream =).
