February 2022 Release

Major release v22.2 includes a new feature allowing collaborative metadata creation/revision, internationalization support for metadata, and workflow improvements for volunteers and project managers.

User Enhancements

• Projects may now support user creation of item-level metadata, allowing project owners to configure fields to be presented to users on a form, and letting users create metadata while viewing images, text, and imported metadata. This may be part of the transcription process, or done independently with no transcription at all.
• Uploading metadata CSV now allows batch renaming of work titles
• Project owner confguring metadata facets may specify language-specific metadata labels
• Project owners may move all works (or just works of a particular status) from one document set to another en masse.
• Project owners may now bulk export from a single document set.
• Collection statistics now show the number of records or text lines transcribed.
• Clicking a work title from the project owner dashboard now consistent with other work titles.
• Project owners may use a project-specific sign-up link to help new users find their projects.
• Voyant and Word Trees analysis now open in separate tabs.
• At least some alphabetic characters must be used in work slugs.
• The Subject Details CSV export now contains the text of any subject articles as well as the full URL to that article.
• The Delete Collection button is now only visible to organization accounts, but hidden from staff accounts.
• Searching for works now searches metadata without matching on metadata labels. This search now includes metadata entered on the work settings tab.
• Work metadata export now includes work creation date.
• Small flow improvements during work import/upload.
• The Start Transcribing button now drops users into pages that have not yet been started instead of incomplete pages.

Integration Improvements

• Multi-lingual IIIF manifest metadata labels no longer break on import.
• Collections and document sets must now have unique slugs.
• Internet Archive items with spaces in derivative filenames are correctly supported.
• Projects imported from the Internet Archive or IIIF no longer show inoperable image replacement options to project owners.
• Apostrophes in imported/uploaded metadata no longer appear as HTML escaped in PDF exports.
• Uploading subjects CSVs that are not UTF-encoded but contain diacritics no longer breaks.
• IIIF v2 Collection manifests that include pagination are now supported.

Bug fixes

• When a project owner deletes the default subject categories People or Places, they no longer reappear.
• Document sets with metadata facets no longer throw 500 errors.
• Preview, edit, and autolink buttons no longer are missing English translations.
• In spreadsheet transcription, removing a row and then saving the spreadsheet (without any further edits) now removes the row data correctly.
• For spreadsheet transcription projects who have deleted columns from the configuration, exports now work.
• New routes evade 500 error saving works from the settings screen.
• Spanish translation of "Last 7 Days Statistics" now works.

Serviceability Improvements

• Improved performance for the project owner homepage when projects have large numbers of document sets.
