Welcome to AeroPython!

AeroPython is a set of IPython Notebooks to use in a course in classical Aerodynamics covering potential flow, and leading to panel method solutions for the potential flow around bodies.

The philosophy behind these materials is that students of Aerodynamics will learn more effectively by manipulating the potential-flow solutions, computationally. The traditional way of teaching potential flow presents mathematical equations and a sketch of the flow pattern for each fundamental solution, then asks students to solve analytical problems. Instead, we use computation as the learning method.

The development of these materials started on Spring 2014, with Prof. Barba teaching the Aerodynamics/Hydrodynamics course for the first time. The notebooks are therefore in an early beta version (and the MAE 6226 students at the George Washington University are the beta testers!). They have been developed in collaboration with PhD student Olivier Mesnard.
