Key updates in version 5.0 of the Radar Software Toolkit (RST) include:

  • All fitting algorithms are now called by the make_fit binary, and the following binaries have been removed: make_lmfit, make_fitex2, make_fitex1.
  • There is no default ACF fitting algorithm in make_fit. The user should specify the fitting algorithm using a command line option.
  • Added the LMFit2.0 fitting algorithm
  • C & IDL software to read TDIFF values from a calibration file (sample file included)
  • New fields in the fitacf file format: algorithm, tdiff, elv_error and elv_fitted
  • New command line option in map_addhmb to constrain the HMB based on a spectral width threshold (no change to default behavior)
  • New virtual height model for midlatitude radars and modularized rpos_v2 library
  • Speed improvements to map_grd and map_addhmb (~3x)
  • New GUI for displaying real-time fit data (fitacfclientgui binary)
  • Updates to the data simulator (sim_real and make_sim)
  • New command line options in field_plot to correctly display the radar field of view
  • Improved color control in plotting routines
  • Updated documentation

Key updates in version 4.7 of the Radar Software Toolkit (RST) include:

  • New routine to list the transmission frequency bands present in a fitacf file (find_freqband)
  • New functionality and documentation for the data simulator (make_sim)
  • Updated C and IDL code for reading the new hardware file format (Note: the old hardware file format is incompatible with RST 4.7. The new hardware files are included in this release)
  • Bug fixes that affected compilation on some systems
  • Bug fixes in various analysis and plotting routines

Key updates in version 4.6 of the Radar Software Toolkit (RST) include:

  • Routine for removing non-gaussian noise/interference from fitacf files (fit_speck_removal)
  • Routine to display the contents of old-format dat files (datdump)
  • Shepherd (2017) elevation angle algorithm added to FITACF3.0
  • Ability to plot multiple fields of view with fov_plot
  • Added missing mlt2mlon keyword to MLT_v2 IDL/DLM code
  • make_grid detects and concatenates multiple input files automatically (deprecates -c flag)
  • Check that the search noise is nonzero before using it to replace the skynoise in FITACF3.0
  • Check whether interferometer array is in front or behind main array when calculating elv_low/elv_high in FITACF2.5

New features in version 4.5 of the Radar Software Toolkit (RST) include:

  • New library for processing and plotting ionospheric sounding (snd) mode data
  • New documentation on rawacf file format
  • Fixed "core dump" error in make_fit -old
  • Update of DLM functions to read dat files
  • Fixed grid and map plotting for southern hemisphere data
  • Consolidated plotting code into a single library (does not affect functionality)
  • Updated compiler to C99

This is a patch release to include updated information for the newly added radars Dome C North (dcn) and Jiamusi (jme). As well, there is updated information for older radars South Pole Station (sps) and Dome C East (dce). Of note, the update to the hdw.dat.dce file applies to data from the start of the radar in 2013.

  • TS18 and TS18-Kp statistical convection model (TS18 replacing CS10 as default)
