Computerized Aide for Navigating Environments -- a project started by FIRST Tech Challenge team 4969 Robot-X from Saint Xavier High School. The system uses distance data to set an auditory beep frequency on four channels (more urgent means a closer obstacle). Written for arduino with a sound card and ultrasonic/infrared distance sensors.
