1.4.0 contains major fixes for HTTPS and it should now work exactly as specified in the specification. However that can cause uninted side-effects (as it does no longer do clientside tls checks) to a user not having full knowledge of the specification of how it should work (generally speaking stack layers are only targeted for people having that knowledge).
