This milestone groups issues to do with the integration of the SPLASH submodule. The code in the WIP branch passes integration tests against golden datasets from the original implementation, but the code overlaps a lot with other existing code.

The main integration has now been completed in PR #69 and this milestone is now being used to manage residual tasks to handle outstanding implementation weaknesses and enhancements in the SPLASH module.
