This PR contains the following updates:

Package Change Age Adoption Passing Confidence
Jinja2 (source, changelog) 3.1.3 -> 3.1.4 age adoption passing confidence

GitHub Vulnerability Alerts

CVE-2024-34064

The xmlattr filter in affected versions of Jinja accepts keys containing non-attribute characters. XML/HTML attributes cannot contain spaces, /, >, or =, as each would then be interpreted as starting a separate attribute. If an application accepts keys (as opposed to only values) as user input, and renders these in pages that other users see as well, an attacker could use this to inject other attributes and perform XSS. The fix for the previous GHSA-h5c8-rqwp-cp95 CVE-2024-22195 only addressed spaces but not other characters.

Accepting keys as user input is now explicitly considered an unintended use case of the xmlattr filter, and code that does so without otherwise validating the input should be flagged as insecure, regardless of Jinja version. Accepting values as user input continues to be safe.

Release Notes

pallets/jinja (Jinja2)

v3.1.4

Compare Source

Released 2024-05-05

  • The xmlattr filter does not allow keys with / solidus, >
greater-than sign, or = equals sign, in addition to disallowing spaces.
Regardless of any validation done by Jinja, user input should never be used
as keys to this filter, or must be separately validated first.

⚠ Artifact update problem

♻ Renovate will retry this branch, including artifacts, only when one of the following happens:

  • any of the package files in this branch needs updating, or
  • the branch becomes conflicted, or
  • you click the rebase/retry checkbox if found above, or
  • you rename this PR's title to start with "rebase!" to trigger it manually

The artifact failure details are included below:

Creating virtualenv micropy-cli-fyJ5AX0N-py3.11 in /home/ubuntu/.cache/pypoetry/virtualenvs

The current project's Python requirement (>=3.8,<3.12) is not compatible with some of the required packages Python requirement:
  - micropython-stubber requires Python >=3.9,<3.12, so it will not be satisfied for Python >=3.8,<3.9

Because micropy-cli depends on micropython-stubber (1.16.3) which requires Python >=3.9,<3.12, version solving failed.

  • Check your dependencies Python requirement: The Python requirement can be specified via the `python` or `markers` properties

For micropython-stubber, a possible solution would be to set the `python` property to ">=3.9,<3.12"
