Pokemon fan game that focuses on a rich story and the exploration of a small open world full of sidequests. Made with Pokémon Essentials v19.1 and RPG Maker XP.

Pokemon Burning Scales has a much stronger focus on story than the official games (approaching more of a traditional RPG in that aspect). A considerable part of the battles is optional, making each battle more impactful. You'll encounter dozens of characters who will provide interesting interactions, funny moments, and, most importantly, numerous side quests.

For now, Pokemon Burning Scales is only available in Portuguese. I plan to start translating it into English as soon as I finish the main story.

Story

In Pokemon Burning Scales, you play as Nathan, an experienced trainer who has traveled extensively throughout the Pokémon world and is already known to many characters. Currently, he's assisting Professor Juniper in Unova with research on an unknown form of Pokémon. However, a mysterious Pokémon begins causing chaos in the southern part of the region. Nathan must then help resolve the issue and understand more about the origin of these new mysterious Pokémon forms.

The game's story unfolds at a significantly different pace from the series' standard. The game map comprises the cities of Nimbasa, Castelia, and their surroundings. Instead of traveling throughout the region, you'll explore a small map filled with interactions and side quests. This allows you to thoroughly explore each part, interact with all the characters, dive straight into the main quest, or take it bit by bit at your own pace.

Difficulty Options

You can choose between 3 difficulty options after the end of the prologue chapter and select another one at any moment in the options menu.

  • Casual: Wild pokemon don't evolve. You don't lose money after being defeated. All pokemon are some levels below your team.
  • Balanced: This is the recommended difficulty for first playthroughs, a little bit harder than the original games. Trainers' pokemon are around the level of your team and wild pokemon are some levels below.
  • Hard: A harder difficulty for experienced players who want more challenge. Forced "set" mode. Items can't be used during trainer battles.
