OSSN ( open source social networkings)

This is the latest version of ossn 6.5 which was released 6 months back

To use this from your computer local host.

First install the latest xamp server - click here

Done with the download ? Now let move to the installation process

Installation of XAMPP on windows

Double click on the downloaded exe file

First you will get a pop-up for permitting to make changes, Click on yes

Go through the steps and read the instructions given while installing

Open the XAMPP server control panel once you are done

Start

Apache

MySql

FireZilla

Viewing and modifying the admin panel

Open your browser and input this (http://localhost/phpmyadmin)

Create a new table and name it ( Myossndatabase )

Once you are done with that now get your files cloned from this repository read to move

Installation

Move the files to htdocs ( check through the Explorer folder on your XAMPP control panel )

Also create a new folder named:- ossn_data

Open your webbrowser and search { localhost/open-source-social-networking }

Read the terms of policy and privacy ( i'm sure your XAMPP server matched with the requirements😉

Filling the forms

admin/administration name : { Your choice }

password : { Your chice }

database name : Myossndatabase { must be the same name with the table you had previously created

Server : Localhost

Do not bother to change the save data directory since , we had previously created a folder similar to that ( ossn_data )

You should be able to fill in the remaining forms but Note: Do not provide any database password since your table doesn't have any too😑

Finsihing touches

Search in your browser ( localhost/open-source-social-networking/administrator )

Input your previous logins provided during the initial installation

😁 Yeah, that feeling.... you are now logged in as an admin

Inviting friends to join

Any one on the same network with your localhost machine ( Your computer )

YEP, they can also visit the web from their phone by searching - localhost/open-source-social-networking

They should create an account ( if he/she couldn't get a mail with the approval code ) that's because your local hosted server isn't by any means connected to the internet so the plugin responsible for mailing is considered in-active 🦿

Do not worry about it. You can manually approve them from the administration dashboard/users
