This probably can't be fixed but trying to mix space switching with this project and other methods causes unpredictable behaviour.

Recommend just using this for all space management and if necessary space_next and space_previous can be added and then ctrl can be used as a modifier to duplicate the functionality of switching. The only difference is no animation.
