As a developer and user I'd like to be able to consistently query tables for links, nodes and shapes by the KEY fields using index functions rather than a duplicated index which needs to be copied.

Just elevating this again. When we add new links and duplicate them to create managed lanes it becomes a PITA to keep these in line which just caused me over a day of debugging h-e-double-hockey-stix
