Just tried Apostrophe (erstwhile UberWriter). Mature application for Linux. Pros:

  • Minimalistic view while writing
  • Distraction free writing: Hemingway mode (no edits allowed), Focus mode (fades previous sentences and centers text).
  • Preview toggle and different layouts
  • Exports and previews with pandoc and mathjax

Cons:

  • Not cross-platform?
