The Quote slice is being used in an array of ways that don't have anything to do with quotes, so we had a conversation between Access and Editorial that I felt would be nice to document. We won't be looking at changing this in the near-future, but since a lot has happened to this component, a recap felt useful for future reference.
The last two were merged into one and called Review in the UI as they both "captured opinion" and were largely similar.
So we were left with three:
Block quote
Pull quote
Review & Testimonial quotes
Pull AND Review have the exact same styles, no visual difference. Worth noting they technically should have different fields (e.g. Pull quotes don't need a citation), but Prismic offers everything to every quote type.
When creating a Quote slice, it currently offers either "..." (default), "pull" or "review" types.
If nothing is selected (stays on "..."), it's considered and styled as a block quote.
Quick note: when we speak of blockquote, it can also be confusing because they're all render as a blockquote HTML element. We can ignore it but fyi.
Questions:
Why are we offering both Pull and Review if they are rendering out to be the exact same? We're talking about splitting them in different components, think they're a candidate for that with Pull not having a citation field?
Do we need a fourth one for book/poem extracts? Or is that a different component?
I think having "..." be Block quote is unclear and it should be more specific
