This statement in the primary entry page section doesn't seem quite right:

The address of the primary entry page is also the canonical identifier for the Web Publication (i.e., it serves as its unique identifier).

Any issue with dropping it entirely, as the canonical identifier is much better explained in its property definition?

It is confusing. The content in the canonical identifier is much closer:

A Web Publication's canonical identifier is a unique identifier that resolves to the preferred version of the Web Publication. It is expressed using the id property.

However, that lacks a statement that the canonical identifier MUST be resolved to the primary entry page (and we have no real notion currently of versions...).

So perhaps remove the text as you propose, and change the above paragraph defining canonical identifier to read:

A Web Publication's canonical identifier is a unique identifier that resolves to the primary entry page of the preferred version of the Web Publication. It is expressed using the id property.

I still have doubts about "preferred version," but that's a different yak to shave. 😁
