Original Recipe by Mojang from their Cooking Book "Minecraft: Gather, Cook, Eat!"

Prep Time: 15 Minutes | Cook Time: 1 Hour | Servings: 4 (depending on your hunger)

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1/2 yellow onion, diced
  • 80g brown and white mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 35g (brown) lentils, rinsed
  • 500ml vegetable broth
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 30g fresh spinach
  • 500g (about 4) potatoes, peeled and quartered
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter
  • 80ml milk of your choice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 16 Suspicious Stew Pringles crisps (or another flavor of your choice)
  • (Spray) oil

Utensils

  • A pot or frying pan
  • Oven or baking dish for 4 servings

Instructions

Step 1: Mashed Potatoes

  • Preheat the oven to 180ºC.
  • Place the potatoes in a small pot and cover with water. Cover the pot with a lid and bring to a boil. Lower heat to a simmer and let cook for 10 minutes or until the potatoes are easily pierced with a fork.
  • Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the butter, milk, and salt. Mash, combining everything together until smooth.

Step 2: Stew

  • Place oil in a medium pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat, then add the onion. Sauté for 6 minutes or until the onions are soft and translucent.
  • Add the mushrooms, carrots, and garlic to the pot and sauté for another 2 minutes.
  • Add the broth, tomato paste, soy sauce, and lentils, and give a quick stir. Increase the heat to high until boiling.
  • Reduce the heat to medium, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.

Step 3: Set up and baking

  • Test the stew, salt and pepper to taste, then add spinach and simmer for another 5 minutes or until the spinach is wilted.
  • Fill your oven dish 3/4 of the way with stew. Fill the last ¼ with mashed potatoes.
  • Crush the Pringles into crumbs, and sprinkle them over the top of the potatoes. Spray with cooking oil.
  • Bake for 10 minutes or until the tops are lightly browned

Enjoy!
