Fanatical is a Steam key shop (partners with publishers) and occasionally gives away free keys.
They're also sometimes limited-supply so they can be hard to grab before they run out, especially since they don't seem to have an official page for freebies and they don't happen very often.
Since there's no official page, you could filter the specials page on ITAD for Fanatical giveaways (there's an ITAD API but I'm not sure if specials are covered by it):

Their system is similar to GOG in that you have to sign up for a newsletter to redeem the free game.

Nice idea I am waiting that @vogler gives feedback on steam store PR, because the api I am using there is also returning fanatical free games.

Which we then could redeem on steam immediately. ☺️
