Am getting broken images at uploaded profile pics and featured images

the empty image 750x300 is working fine

It looks like you are uploading the images to a nonexistent location @verkko or at least one where your system has no access.

I didn't change any thing except css files, am using ssl for my website is that the issue.

No @verkko that shouldn't be an issue at all, but I don't recognize the base URL pattern of the image.
