Show bearing / compass?

How could I go about adding an "N" with an arrow (like a compass rose) to indicate which way is north, when I set up a map that has a custom bearing?

Ideally such a widget would move around dynamically as the user manipulates the map, but would stay in a specific corner of the map pane.
