Feature Request: Dolby Atmos Toggle? #91
Comments
Probably not. Dolby Atmos on Apple Music is virtual surround right? (i.e. not based on multichannel Dolby TrueHD right?) Anyways believe its a no regardless, unfortunately.

Dolby Atmos is not virtual surround. It’s scalable discrete multichannel audio which can be configured in Audio Midi Setup.
I think an Atmos on/off toggle in the app or even an indicator that a track is playing in 2ch or Atmos would be very handy. Unfortunately there are 3 settings in the Apple Music Preferences to handle this which is Off/Always On and Automatic. Automatic defaults to Dolby Atmos being if the track has a Dolby Atmos version.

If its a Apple Music software virtual surround setting, third-party apps probably can't access it.
Best that can be done would be switching from multichannel to 2ch (if not virtual surround), but I doubt that's what you want.

Not sure how feasible this would be to implement but it would be nice to be able to toggle Dolby Atmos off and on in LosslessSwitcher instead of having to manually do it in the Apple Music preferences.
